Michigan’s festival season may kick off in the spring, but summertime is when it really explodes – and you won’t want to miss a single weekend.

From lilacs to blueberries, the Great Lakes State turns into festival central when the weather warms up. There’s pirates in Boyne City and cherry everything in Traverse City. Hot air balloons floating over Battle Creek? Check. Magicians taking over an entire town? Absolutely.

These aren’t your average street fairs and carnivals. Our Michigan festivals are the real deal—the kind where locals stake out their favorite spots for fireworks and parades and the visitors are already booking places to stay for their favorite celebration.

With everything from small-town parties to 10-day-long affairs, there’s a flavor of festival out there for everyone.

Consider this guide as your cheat sheet to the Michigan summer that locals don’t want you to know about. Get ready—your weekends are about to get booked solid!
