We’ve got the inside scoop on some awesome beer gardens and great hangout spots that make us so excited for warm weather and summer vibes.

Up North Hangout Spots
Heading on a road trip up north? We’ve got some must-stop spots to put on your list.
Hop Lot Brewing Co & Beer Garden
Suttons Bay, MI 49682
It’s right on M-22, and it’s my go-to every time we’re near Leelanau Peninsula.
Hop Lot has nailed that outdoor beer garden feel – campfires, games, the whole nine yards.
Bring the kids too. They’ll love the sandbox. And who doesn’t love roasting s’mores?
Visiting in the winter? The cozy igloos are the perfect way to enjoy the snow while staying warm(er).

River Club Glen Arbor

For a little twist, check out the newRiver Club in Glen Arbor.
Mini golf with a drink in your hand? Yes, please.
Throw in some live music by the river, frozen margaritas and you’ve got yourself a perfect summer day.

Shorts Beer Garden

Man, this place is a vibe.
Shorts Beer Garden is right across from their brewery and, on weekends, it’s buzzing.
Live music, beer truck, taco truck – the works. And let me tell you, their pizza? Out of this world.
Grab a picnic table or just stand around soaking it all in.

Iron Fish Distillery
Thompsonville, MI 49683
Near Crystal Mountain this distillery has it all.
Iron Fish has cozy, laid-back vibe with amazing craft cocktails made right on-site.
You can hang outside, listen to live music, and even grab a wood-fired pizza—it’s the kind of place you’ll want to come back to again and again.
They also host fun events all summer long.

Pine Hill Nursery
MI
Pine Hill Nursery is a blast if you love plants and want a low-key place to hang out.
It’s both a full-blown 7-acre nursery destination (Northern Michigan’s largest nursery) and an entertainment spot.
On Friday and Saturday evenings in the summer, you can hang out at the Garden Cafe, listen to live music, and even grab a beer and a wood-fired pizza.
Located near Torch Lake.

Pond Hill Farm
Harbor Springs, MI 49740
Pond Hill Farm is where to be for a mix of chill and adventure.
Wander through the vineyards, do some wine tasting, let the kids run wild on the playground. Plus live concerts!
They even have human foosball – trust us, it’s a blast.

St. Ambrose Cellars
Beulah, MI, 49617
St. Ambrose Cellars is another gotta-try-it Up North hangout.
On busy summer days it turns into more of a big backyard hangout, with people drifting between games, drinks, and the music stage.
They’ve got yard games. Think cornhole, bocce ball, and plenty of space on the lawn, plus the 18‑hole disc golf course running through the property.
And they do real food, not just snacks. You can order wood‑fired pizzas, burgers (local beef), fries, and a lot more from the taproom kitchen. Their menu runs all day they’re open, with food service typically closing about a half hour to an hour before the bar does.

West Side Hangout Spots
The Score Restaurant & Sports Bar
Grand Rapids, MI 49525
The Score is where it’s at.
It’s like they couldn’t decide between a sports bar and a beach resort, so they said, “Why not both?” Palm trees in Michigan? You bet.
Volleyball courts, sandy areas to eat, and a killer play area for the kids.
Oh, and they’ve got over 110 beers on tap. I mean, come on

Round Barn Winery & Estate
Baroda, MI 49101
The Round Barn is the ultimate Southwest Michigan Hangout: a winery, brewery and distillery all in one.
Think wine, beer, and cocktails on tap, live music all summer, and a laid-back vibe that’s perfect for a weekend escape.
Grab a to-go drink and hit the Mt. Tabor Trails—a short 1.15-mile scenic path connecting Round Barn and Tabor Hill Winery.

The Deck

This Muskegon hot spot sits right at Pere Marquette Beach with beach vibes and BBQ.
The Deck is serving up smoked meats, cold drinks, and a giant outdoor patio with lake views.
Live bands hit the stage all summer long, making it the perfect spot to kick back, swim, and dance a little.

Hang out in a beer garden at a grocery store? You bet!
The beer garden is a Lansing-area outdoor dining escape for couples, friends and family.
It’s the place to enjoy local artists, delicious food and a relaxing atmosphere.
Horrocks Beer Garden also hosts a variety of seasonal events including Oktoberfest, St. Patrick’s Day and kids holiday events, too.
Plus the insane on-site wine and beer selection, food truck, gelato bar, plant nursery – you’ll love wandering around this place!

Eastside Hangout Spots
Michigan’s Eastside, including Metro Detroit, have some great places to hang out, too. Here’s where we’d love to spend some time:
Brisa Bar

Brisa Bar is bringing those beach vibes right to the heart of the city. It’s perfect when you need a little escape, but can’t actually get out of town.
Their Happy Hour is legit, and they’ve got DJs spinning on the weekends.

The Yard Corktown

Detroit’s ultimate playground!
The Yard at Corktown indoor-outdoor hotspot is packed with fun—axe throwing, giant beer pong, pinball, shuffleboard, and a wall of 500+ board games.
Grab a drink from one of the two bars, grab some eats from the on-site food truck, and chill by the fire pits.

The Beach Tiki Bar & Boil

Lakefront tiki escape in Walled Lake! (North of Novi.)
is all about big seafood boils, tacos, burgers, and fruity cocktails right on the water.
Kick back on the lakeside patio, sip something cold, listen to live music, and pretend you’re on vacation without ever leaving metro Detroit.

The Railyard
The Railyard in Fenton is basically a food and fun playground: food‑truck park, arcade, and self‑serve beer wall all in one spot and is designed to be fun for all ages (kids included).
Built around shipping containers, the outdoor food park hosts several rotating food trucks.
Inside you’ll find a self‑serve beer wall where you grab a wristband, pour your own beer or cider, and pay by the ounce, plus a full bar for other drinks.
For play, they’ve got an arcade room, pool tables, shuffleboard, cornhole boards outside, big TVs for games, and regular live music and entertainment.
