Michigan Art Fairs & Festivals

Your Guide to Michigan’s Art Festivals & Fairs for Summer 2025

Michigan loves a good art fair!

From filling small-town parks to downtown streets, these creative festivals seem to pop up everywhere in Michigan when the weather warms up.

Sure, most art fairs have those white pop-up tents, but each one also has its own thing going on. One weekend you’re watching someone chalk an entire scene onto the sidewalk. The next, you’re wandering through booths filled with pottery, prints, and handmade everything.

And to me, the best part is, you’re not just looking. You’re meeting the artists, hearing their stories, maybe even taking home a piece that struck a chord with you.

We pulled together seven standout festivals to help you get you started on your next art adventure. (As you probably guessed, this list is just a taste. For even more, check the full (and always growing) calendar of Michigan art fairs in this guide.)

Michigan’s Top Art Fairs & Festivals for 2025

1 – Ann Arbor Art Fair: Three Fairs, One Event

Downtown Ann Arbor: July 17–19, 2025 // 1,000 artists

This one’s the heavyweight. You know, the kind of art fair that you clear your schedule for. No joke, this thing spans 30 city blocks, solidly putting it in the massive, knock-your-socks-off category.

Really, the Ann Arbor Art Fair brings three separate fairs come together in downtown Ann Arbor to create one seriously impressive show of creativity.

You’ll find rows and rows of booths, each with something different: handmade jewelry, cool paintings, detailed prints, sculpture, and everything in between. Rounding it out: live music and food trucks, while artists demo their work, and you’re invited to watch (and maybe try something yourself).

2 – Wyandotte Street Art Fair

Downtown Wyandotte: July 9–12, 2025 // 300 artists

This one’s been around since ’61 and it still draws a crowd — like 250,000 people kind of crowd. Wyandotte goes big with over 300 artists and crafters taking over downtown for four days straight.

It’s one of the state’s biggest and longest-running art fairs, with the city’s riverfront charm and historic downtown as the backdrop. There’s live music, food, drinks, and rows of creativity waiting to be discovered.

Voted one of Michigan’s best – and for good reason. Clear your calendar and get ready to explore.

3 – Art on the Rocks in Marquette

Mattson Lower Harbor Park, Marquette: July 26–27, 2025 // 140 artists

Way up on the Lake Superior shoreline in the Upper Peninsula, this Marquette classic has been holding it down for 64 years and it’s still a must-do for art lovers across the Midwest.

Over 100 juried artists set up shop in the park, backed by harbor views, a lighthouse, and Marquette’s charming downtown. People plan their vacations around this art fair and it shows, pulling in over 10,000 people each year.

Free to attend, easy to love, and worth the road trip.

4 – Belle Isle Art Fair in Detroit

Belle Isle Park, Detroit: August 2–3, 2025 // 100+ artists

Meet me at the art fair by the fountain! This one’s all about art with a view. Set near the historic Scott Fountain, the Belle Isle Art Fair brings 100+ artists to one of Detroit’s prettiest spots.

You’ll wander through booths of one-of-a-kind finds, duck into the Secret Art Garden for a little peace and quiet, and maybe get your hands messy with a hands-on art activity. The Heritage Artists Tent adds extra depth, spotlighting longtime art legends.

Live acoustic music keeps the day going, and yeah, there’s a beer tent. Don’t forget, you’ll need a State Park Pass to get on the island.

5 – Krasl Art Fair on the Bluff in St. Joseph

Lake Bluff Park, St. Joseph: July 12–13, 2025 // 170+ artists

This one’s got the Lake Michigan breezes and the art cred.

For 63 years, St. Joe has welcomed top-tier artists to the bluff for a weekend of creativity, community, and some serious summer charm. You’ll find 172 artists from across the country, a sweet Block Party on Friday night, and a lakeside setup that turns browsing into a mini vacation.

When you go, scope out the colorful stretch of tents for everything from stunning sculpture to yes-please paintings. Then, let the kids score $10 artwork in the Young Collector’s Tent and hit up the free Krasl Kids’ Zone.

Add in local food trucks, an extended farmers market, plus sip-and-stroll Social District privileges, and it’s easy to see why this art fair’s a favorite.

6 – Lakeshore Art Festival in Muskegon

Hackley Park, Muskegon: June 28–29, 2025 // 250 artists

Another lakeshore gem that brings the energy to West Michigan.

Each summer, 250+ artists take over Hackley Park with a blend of fine art, handmade goods, street performers, and DIY fun. It’s creative, it’s lively, and it’s got that laid-back Muskegon vibe.

Toss in an artisan food market and that breezy Lake Michigan air, and it’s no surprise this fest draws 30,000+ people and ranks among the top craft shows in the country.

7 – ScrapFest in Old Town Lansing

Turner Street, Lansing: Mid-July 2025

For something a little different, how about an art festival that focuses on turning trash into treasure?

Yeah? That’s ScrapFest’s whole thing. On display is what happens when you give artists one hour to dig through a scrapyard, and then a month to turn their haul into epic sculptures. Wild results are expected.

The final pieces line Turner Street for a weekend art party jammed with eco-art booths, food, live music, and wearable junk fashion in the Refashion Show (seriously, it’s awesome).

There’s even an 8K run, and proceeds from the art auction support local charities. Bonus: a behind-the-scenes docuseries is in the works.

Lansing creativity is showing off—and you’re invited.

Do You Have Art Fair Fever?

Symptoms include: impulse pottery purchases, a sudden interest in new artforms, and the inability to walk past a booth without saying, “How long did this take to make?”

It starts with one fair. Just a quick stop, you say. Next thing you know, you’re planning your picnics and meet-ups with friends around art festivals.

Nothing wrong with that, right? We just know a good thing when we see it. Sunny weekends, good company, and rows of creative inspo? Feels like we’ve cracked the code.

Honestly, if this is a fever, we’re not looking for a cure. I say, Michigan art festival season is top of the list!
