Glenlore Trails 2026 is Michigan’s Magnificent Halloween Fairytale Come to Life!

Behold! Glenlore Trails is the Halloween Hike You’re Looking For!

Looking for something to do after dark this fall that isn’t another bar, haunted house or pumpkin patch? You’re gonna want to add this to your Halloween activities list.

Once the sun goes down in the northwest suburbs of Detroit, a quiet wooded trail turns into something completely different. Glenlore Trails combines lights, sound, projection, interactive installations and theatrical storytelling into a one-mile nighttime adventure.

It’s spooky enough for Halloween season, but this isn’t just a kids’ attraction. Glenlore has become a destination for couples, friend groups, families and anyone looking for something a little more unusual to do after dark.

You’re not just looking at the lights. You’re walking through them.

Glenlore Trails: A Wildly Immersive Night Walk in Michigan

Glenlore Trails is an immersive nighttime walk through the woods at 3860 Newton Road in Commerce Township, about 2.5 hours from Grand Rapids and 40 minutes from Detroit.

The trail is one mile long and takes one hour to walk. Along the way, the forest becomes part of the show, with illuminated trees, LED displays, projection effects, music and interactive installations.

You don’t have to have kids with you to enjoy Glenlore Trails. It’s also a fun option for a date night, friends’ night out or unique fall experience for adults. Some evenings even have special 21+ events.

It’s spooky, but not like a traditional haunted trail. CarnEvil2 is designed to be family friendly with eerie lighting, carnival-inspired displays, sounds and spooky surprises. There won’t be actors jumping out at you like you might expect from a typical haunted trail.

The trail is chunky asphalt, so it is accessible for wheelchairs or strollers with larger, sturdier wheels.

Glenlore Trails Witching Hour is open Thursday-Sunday evenings from September 18 – November 1, 2026.

Know Before You Go

Dress for the weather. This is an outdoor nighttime experience in Michigan, so dress accordingly. Layers, warm clothing and comfortable shoes become especially important later in the fall.

The experience changes with the seasons, so the Halloween version isn’t necessarily what you’ll find when you visit another time of year. Visiting during the winter? You’ll get to enjoy Aurora: A Winter Wonderland.

Food trucks and concessions are available, along with drinks and seasonal treats, including adult beverages for guests 21+.

There are restrooms along the trail.

Make a Night of It!

Coming from Grand Rapids, Lansing, Ann Arbor or somewhere outside of Michigan?

Don’t think of Glenlore as a 45-minute attraction that requires a long drive home afterward.

Instead, make it the after-dark centerpiece of a fall night out. Have dinner, explore another attraction or nearby town, then head to Glenlore once the sun goes down.

And if you’re traveling a long way, consider making it an overnight trip. Livonia & Auburn Hills aren’t far, and there are some nice rentals even closer!

A Different Kind of Michigan Fall Experience

Glenlore Trails is proof that a Michigan fall night doesn’t have to involve a cider mill or a haunted house. Sometimes you just need a dark trail, a forest full of glowing surprises and a little willingness to see what happens around the next corner.

Grab your people, bundle up and make a night of it. CarnEvil 2 is a pretty fun excuse to see a completely different side of Michigan after dark.

Are you planning a night at Glenlore Trails this year?
