Sleigh Ride to a Candlelit Dinner – Aonach Mòr Moonlight Dinner
Riding up to North Peak at the Highlands in Northern Michigan, in a sleigh under the stars, then stepping into a candlelit cabin and sitting down to one of the best meals I’ve had on a ski trip?
Yeah, that’s one of them.
This is the Aonach Mòr Moonlight Dinner experience at the Highlands in Harbor Springs.
Hop into your sleigh at the base of the mountain, where they’ve lined the seats with blankets (because cozy is key), and up you go to North Peak.
The air is crisp, the snow is glowing, and it already feels like something out of a winter fairytale. And we haven’t even gotten to dinner yet.
At the top, a bonfire crackled outside the cabin, giving us a chance to warm up and soak in the ambiance before heading inside.
Inside the Cozy Cabin
You know that perfect winter dinner setup with candles, twinkly lights, and just the right soundtrack? They nailed it.
Inside the candles glow and the soft sound of a live guitarist fill the space.
I must emphasize that this isn’t just background music. The guitarist moves from table to table, taking requests, somehow playing exactly what you didn’t know you needed to hear.
And when he plays your song? Forget it. You’re cooked, as the kids say.
The Menu
No exaggeration—this is some of the best food I’ve had this season. Not just “good for a ski resort.” Good, period.
Swiss Fondue – The kind of gooey, melty goodness that makes you wonder why every meal doesn’t start with cheese. Served with grilled bread, potatoes, apples, and cornichons.
Butternut Squash Soup – Creamy, rich, topped with crème fraîche, pumpkin seeds, sage, and paprika oil.
Prime Beef Filet – Cooked to perfection, served with asparagus, sweet potato purée, and béarnaise sauce.
Chocolate Mousse – Light, decadent, and worth saving room for.
And if you book for Valentine’s Day, they go all out—lobster, crème brûlée, chocolate-covered strawberries, and roses because, well, why not?
The Details

If you’re debating whether to book this, I get it. IMO, this is one of those experiences that makes winter in Michigan feel magical.
And yes, spots fill up quickly. Don’t wait too long – this is one winter memory worth planning ahead for.
