A University-run creamery, The MSU Dairy Store is on the MSU campus in East Lansing, sells ice cream and cheese made in the dairy plant right next door by MSU students and faculty.
There’s an observation deck where you can watch production in action – it’s part ice cream shop, part living classroom, and has been doing this since 1913.
The Ice Cream
They rotate 13 flavors weekly, and the flavor names are half the fun.
Spartan Swirl is of course the #1 seller – it’s cake batter with a green frosting swirl. (Spartan Swirl was originally called Sesquicentennial Swirl but they renamed it because nobody could pronounce it.)
Then there’s Izzo’s Malted Madness, Dantonio’s Double Fudge Fake, Beaumont Brownie Bliss, Rare Isotope Creams, Code Cherry.
Waffle cones are made fresh and stamped with a Spartan helmet. They also do ice cream flights.
PLEASE NOTE: THE DAIRY STORE IS CASHLESS
