Lost Cellars
Boutique winery magic just just north of the 45th Parallel, about two miles from Lake Michigan outside Charlevoix! Lost Cellars is a winery and micro-distillery that takes Northern Michigan’s best grapes and levels up with locally-sourced fruit to concoct wines and cocktails that hit just right.

The Experience at Lost Cellars
THE WINERY:
Lost Cellars keeps it real with small-batch wines that scream Northern Michigan. Their 13-acres of estate-grown grapes love the weather at the top of the mitten, which in turn produce bold flavors that get bottled up.
THE TASTING ROOM:
Nothing beats this wide-open patio where soaking up vineyard views and sampling wine flights, cocktail samplers, and charcuterie boards is the name of the game. They bring in live music a few times a month over the summer season, so check their socials for the latest lineup. The patio is dog-friendly, and the staff are known to surprise well-behaved pups (and owners) with a “barcuterie board.”
THE COTTAGE – CHALET ON THE VINES:
Yes, you can stay right on the property. Their two-bedroom cottage vacation rental, is tucked, pondside, under towering trees. It’s got room for five, kayaks for the water, and even a 50-amp RV hookup if you want to really settle in. Perfect for wine lovers looking for something off the beaten path. Bonus: you can book a private wine tasting without ever leaving the cottage.
The Story Behind It
Lost Cellars has a backstory worth toasting to. It began back in 2007 as Charlevoix Moon Vineyard, growing grapes for local wineries. Fast forward to 2015, Drs. Jay and Lora Higdon bought the property, fulfilling their dream of owning a winery. The name “Lost Cellars” is a nod to Jay discovering his Sicilian great-great-grandfather once owned a winery in California that was eventually lost. Now, they’re bringing that spirit back to life in Northern Michigan.
