Kobold’s Kitchen in Grand Rapids
What It Is
Kobold’s Kitchen is a tabletop gaming-themed restaurant opening soon in Grand Rapids, Michigan. It’s moving into the old Fat Boy Burgers spot on Plainfield and flipping the vibe into a board game café with breakfast, lunch, dinner, and a massive stash of games.
Expect a menu full of handhelds and global eats, think empanadas, smash burgers, and whatever else pairs well with friendly (or cutthroat) competition.
The name nods to kobolds, those mischievous little creatures from Dungeons & Dragons. So yeah, this place is proudly nerdy in the best way.
Where It’s Located
Creston neighborhood.
You’ll find it at 2450 Plainfield Ave. NE, Grand Rapids, in the 1,575-square-foot space where Fat Boy Burgers used to sling patties.
What to Expect
A library of over 800 tabletop games will be up for grabs while you dine.
That means everything from classics to deep-cut strategy games. Whether you’re into dice rolls, card decks, or full-on fantasy epics, this place is stacking the shelves.
It’s built to be a true hangout spot, the kind of place where brunch turns into a two-hour game session and no one’s rushing you out the door.
When It’s Opening
They’re aiming for an August 2025 opening, so stay tuned.
