Petoskey Wine Trail Map

Yep, Petoskey Wine is a Real Thing

Just a few hours north of the big Michigan cities everyone knows, sixteen family-run wineries in the Petoskey area are changing the game with drinks and places that are really fun to explore.

Think farm-turned-wineries with goats named Taco, ciders made from 100-year-old apple varieties, and the country’s first maple winery (yes, they ferment maple syrup instead of grapes).

The wines up here are special. Most wineries up this way are using a combination of special growing techniques and hardy grapes.

What’s on the Petoskey Wine Route?

But, you don’t need to know your Cabernet from your Chardonnay to have an amazing time in the Petoskey Wine Region.

In fact, this is a great place to dabble in wine for the first timer or the person who’s been around the block. (We find the Petoskey area wineries to be so approachable, welcoming, and friendly.)

Most places welcome your dog, offer outdoor seating with killer views, and won’t judge if you don’t know how to pronounce “Frontenac.” You’ll meet owners who ditched corporate careers to make wine, families running the same cherry farm for four generations, and bartenders genuinely excited to help you find something you’ll love.

If that wasn’t good enough, it gets better. This isn’t just about wine. Many spots double as breweries, cideries, or distilleries, which is perfect if your group has that one friend who “doesn’t do wine.” Add in wood-fired pizza, farm animals you can feed, big patios with fire pits, and even some places where you can literally shoot vegetables from giant slingshots, and you’ve got yourself a weekend that’ll fill up your camera roll.

Petoskey Wine Trail Stops

Grab the Petoskey Wine Passport to save a little on your tastings at most of the sixteen spots. If you’re ready to enjoy the drinks, the views, and becoming the friend who discovered that cool new spot before everyone else did, here’s your list!
