Some places are BYOS (bring your own sled) while others have tube rentals.
Whether you’re looking for a quiet, less-known sledding option or if you are a “go big or go home” type of person, the Greater Lansing area has sledding and tubing that’s just right for you.
Bundle up and get ready for a memorable experience at these fun Lansing sledding and tubing hills.

No snow? No problem! Hawk Island makes its own, so if all you see is grass (or that fun winter mud) in your backyard, you can always head over to Hawk Island for a winter wonderland.
Hawk Island is a top Lansing winter destination known for its winter tubing, attracting people from all over the area.
From the beautiful snowy trails to the incredible snow tubing, you can spend an entire day here. The tubing hill is fantastic: 500-600 feet long with a drop of 50-60 feet, with 16 foot wide snow lanes.
For anyone needing a break from the cold, the warming shack is stocked with snacks, hot chocolate, and s’more supplies. Grab some to enjoy around the bonfires around the hill.
Reservations must be made to partake in this unforgettable tubing experience. Make reservations here.
Cost: $11 per person for two hours. There is also a vehicle entrance fee to enter the park.
Ready for a snow-filled party? You can rent the entire hill! If you have a party of 40 or more, the entire hill can be reserved by calling Hawk Island at 517-676-2233.
Please Note: Make sure your little one is ready for Hawk Island tubing. There is no age limit for children, however lap-riders are not permitted. All children must be able to ride down in their own tube, exit the lift area in a timely manner, and stand on the Magic Carpet mechanical hill lift.

Burchfield Park in Holt, just south of Lansing, is one of our go-to winter tubing and sledding destinations, and bonus – the prices are great!
No reservations are required to sled at Burchfield Park. Tube rentals are available throughout the winter generally Friday – Sunday depending on weather conditions. Tube rentals are for two-hours for a nominal fee.
The tubing hill is sometimes opened on a weekday when there are school closures!
Burchfield offers two sledding hills: a big one and a little one. The smaller hill is ideal for littles and is a hop, skip, and jump away from the parking lot. There you can bring your favorite sled from home and go down as many times as you like.
The big hill is for the more daring and is a short hike away from the parking lot. You may bring your own sled from home and sled for FREE anytime.
While you’re at Burchfield Park, cozy up by the wood-burning fire pit, grab a cup of cocoa in their winter snack bar when it’s open, and warm up in the winter warming lodge. Also take the family for a hike in the 6 miles of trails in the woods.
If you’re planning to be regular at Hawk Island, Burchfield, or other Ingham County parks, you might consider buying an Ingham County Parks season pass instead of paying the daily entrance fee each time.
This annual pass is $35 for Ingham County residents and $45 for non-residents for 2025. The pass will also get you free parking at Potter Park Zoo.
