What it’s Like to Visit

If you visit the Au Sable Light Station, here’s what you can expect:

Getting to the Lighthouse

To access the lighthouse you will need to park in the day-use area of the Hurricane River Campground. From there it is a 1.5 mile walk to the Au Sable Light Station, or 3 miles roundtrip.

The trail is wide and flat, making for an easy walk. On hot, humid summer days, biting flies may be bothersome. Loose fitting, lightweight pants and socks are suggested.

Guided Climbs & Tours

The lighthouse is open to visitors seasonally (typically June through October). The guided climbs and tours are free, but spots on each tour are limited and first come, first served.

For safety reasons, climbers must be at least 42 inches tall and wear shoes with heel straps, flip flops are not allowed.
